Urinary and faecal incontinence can leave the skin at risk from breakdown making it more susceptible to bacterial infections. There are many things that can be done as part of an incontinence skin care regime, these include;

  • Change incontinence products as soon as they become soiled to avoid excessive skin wetness.

  • Cleanse affected areas gently to avoid friction

  • Use formulated skin products designed for incontinence care to maintain the skins natural pH levels.

  • Use a barrier creams to minimise direct contact with urine and faeces.

  • Stay hydrated, drink plenty of fluids.
